Thaat KALYAN Jati Audav-Audav
This pentatonic scale raag has universal appeal both in Indian & Western music. It shares its scale with another raga viz. Deskar. Two ragas are quite close, but they differ in emphasis. Bhupali emphasizes the lower notes and has a more pensive, meditative mood. In contrast, Deskar is playful and vivacious, focusing on the upper notes. Bhopali is sung in the evening hours, after sundown.
