Thaat ASAVARI Jati Sampurna

One of the most melodious ragas in Hindustani music, this raga is said to have been created by Miyan Tansen in the royal court, or darbar, of Akbar, and hence given the name "darbari". Grave and majestic, this raga is best sung in a heavy bass voice during the late evening hours, and sometimes deep into night. It is characterized by its extensive use of powerful gamak ornamentation.
